Wormser Höhenweg – Photograph Journal

Situated only a spirited yodel away from the Swiss border, the Wormser Excessive Path (Höhenweg in German) is an under-the-radar basic of southwestern Austria. I used to be advisable the path by Matthias Kodym, an Austrian nationwide who has trekked extensively each in his personal nation and all over the world. Starting close to the village of Schruns, over its 20.6 km (12.8 mi) course, the Wormser Höhenweg traverses two picturesque passes and affords magnificent views of the glacially-sculpted Montafon Valley. It was the primary and shortest of 4 excessive trails I did in Austria in October 2019, the others being the Stubaier Höhenweg (see Journey Report, Information & Gear Record), Schladming Tauern Höhenweg, and the Berliner Höhenweg (see Journey Report & Information/Gear Record).

The village of Schruns was my base for the Wormser Hohenweg. The parents on the native customer middle had been form sufficient to let me retailer extra baggage there whereas doing the hike.

The much less taxing (however no much less scenic) option to go up and down between Schruns and Wormser Hut.

Wormser Hut – the official place to begin of the Excessive Path.

Leaving the hut behind, I quickly had the (momentarily snow-free) path to myself.

Gazing southwest over the Montafon Valley from a cliff-hugging part of path.

Crimson and white paint splashes marked a lot of the snow-sprinkled route.

I break up the Wormser Hohenweg over two days. On the primary, I walked round 5 hours and camped near the Valschaveiler Jochili (Tarptent Aeon Li pictured). On the second day, I awoke to drizzly circumstances and completed the trek a few hours later at a fog-draped Neue Heilbronner Hutte.
